Echelon has fully restored access to its official website following a domain security incident caused by unauthorized nameserver changes at the registrar level. The protocol confirmed that its smart contracts remained unaffected throughout the event.
The attack targeted Echelon’s domain configuration rather than its on-chain infrastructure. While the domain was managed through Vercel, the registrar Name.com allowed nameservers to be switched from Vercel’s DNS to Name.com’s servers without authorization. This change redirected visitors to a fraudulent clone of the Echelon website designed for phishing attacks. Echelon stated that the breach was confined strictly to the domain and DNS layer.
