Doubao, a ByteDance platform, is set to introduce a paid subscription service in late June, offering tiers from basic to professional with fees up to 500 yuan monthly and 5088 yuan annually. Despite this, free services will remain available. The platform plans to integrate with Douyin e-commerce in the third quarter, aiming to enhance subscription scenarios and drive traffic to Douyin Mall through subsidies. This integration will enter its operational phase in the fourth quarter, with paid penetration not being a performance metric for 2026. Doubao has already begun testing product recommendations within conversations, achieving a conversion rate exceeding 3% for product card clicks and detail page views since April. The app boasted approximately 336 million monthly active users in April, ranking it as the second most popular chatbot globally.
