In the New York foreign exchange market, the euro fell to 1.1614 U.S. dollars from 1.1636, while the British pound dropped to 1.3386 U.S. dollars from 1.3431. The U.S. dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen, Swiss franc, Canadian dollar, and Swedish krona, with respective exchange rates of 158.54 yen, 0.8031 francs, 1.3893 Canadian dollars, and 9.2263 kronor.
