AI security startup Depthfirst has announced that its proprietary AI model outperforms Anthropic's Mythos in detecting code vulnerabilities, identifying more critical security flaws at a fraction of the cost. Depthfirst claims its model uncovered additional high-severity vulnerabilities that Mythos missed, costing approximately $1,000 compared to Mythos's $10,000. CEO Qasim Mithani highlighted the use of single-task optimized AI models to enhance detection efficiency and reduce costs.
In March, Depthfirst completed an $80 million funding round, reaching a $580 million valuation. The company also launched the Open Defense Initiative, offering $5 million in AI detection credits to open-source developers and critical infrastructure projects for vulnerability scanning and security audits.
