Delhi police have arrested five individuals in connection with a cryptocurrency investment scam involving approximately $2.6 million. The group allegedly used social media to lure victims into WhatsApp 'investment groups,' where they were persuaded to download a fake trading app and make multiple transfers. The app was then shut down, and the funds were siphoned off. Investigations revealed that the scam involved multiple 'dummy accounts' to launder the money, which was eventually transferred to digital asset wallets. Police have dismantled two scam operations and are conducting searches in various locations. Transactions from the implicated accounts reportedly reached tens of millions of rupees per transaction.
