DefiLlama has quietly reinstated decentralized exchange Aster on its platform after previously delisting it due to disputed trading data. The relisting, which occurred without public announcement, was highlighted by Dragonfly's Haseeb Qureshi, who noted significant gaps in Aster's historical data. DefiLlama's founder, 0xngmi, acknowledged the data verification issues, describing Aster's metrics as a "black box" and indicating that a new system is being developed to improve data accuracy. Aster was initially removed from DefiLlama two weeks ago after inconsistencies in its on-chain trading data raised concerns about the legitimacy of its reported activity. The delisting sparked a debate over data transparency and the influence of data providers in decentralized finance. Despite being relisted, Aster's historical data gaps remain, affecting longitudinal analyses and resetting its historical footprint on the platform. Aster continues to lead in 24-hour and seven-day perpetual volume metrics, followed by competitors Hyperliquid and Lighter.
