DeFi Technologies has announced a leadership change with Johan Wattenström stepping in as the new CEO and Executive Chairman, succeeding Olivier Roussy Newton. Newton, who led the company for three years, oversaw significant growth, including the expansion of its ETP platform to 100 products and achieving over $1 billion in assets under management. Under his leadership, the company also listed on NASDAQ and increased its revenue from $4.5 million in 2021 to over $80 million in 2024. Newton will transition to a strategic advisor role in December while maintaining a significant equity stake. Johan Wattenström, a co-founder of DeFi Technologies, brings nearly two decades of experience in digital assets. He previously co-founded Valour and launched the world's first Bitcoin ETP, XBT Provider. His appointment marks a new chapter for DeFi Technologies as it continues to expand its presence in the digital asset space.
