Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan, a 2026 FOMC voting member, said the Federal Reserve needs at least two more rate hikes of 25 basis points each to bring inflation back to its 2% target. Speaking at Davidson College, Logan stated that skipping meetings would not alter the policy's ultimate goal and that pausing after a cumulative 50 basis points of increases would allow policymakers to assess the next step. Logan called the failure of inflation to fall to the 2% target "unacceptable" and noted that the current 3.75%–4.00% rate range is insufficient to achieve the goal. This week the Fed held rates steady by a 10-2 vote, with Logan voting in favor of the pause.
