Crypto-backed political action committees have spent $7.2 million across five states ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, according to recent Federal Election Commission filings. The Protect Progress PAC, affiliated with Fairshake, allocated $1.6 million to support Democratic candidates Jasmine Clark in Georgia and Christian Menefee in Texas, while pledging $1.5 million to oppose Texas Representative Al Green. Meanwhile, the Defend American Jobs PAC, also linked to Fairshake, reported $5.6 million in expenditures supporting candidates in Georgia, Nebraska, Alabama, and Kentucky. Kentucky Senator Andy Barr, a pro-crypto policy advocate, received over $3.5 million in media support from Defend American Jobs. The spending reflects a strategic effort by crypto industry groups to shape policy discussions as lawmakers consider crypto-related legislation, including the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act. These financial moves underscore the sector's intent to influence regulatory outcomes and align political support with favorable crypto policies.
