Crypto Political Action Committees (PACs) achieved significant victories in Texas elections, securing six wins, including the unseating of long-time anti-crypto incumbent Al Green in the 18th District. Representative Christian Menefee, backed by crypto PACs such as Fairshake and Protect Progress, won the Democratic run-off, with over $6 million spent in support. Protect Progress alone invested $2.8 million against Green, who had opposed the CLARITY Act and GENIUS Act. The victories, which also included wins for Carlos De La Cruz, Alex Mealer, Tom Sell, and John Bonck, highlight the growing influence of the crypto industry in politics. Ken Paxton's win in the Texas Senate primary further underscores this trend. These results serve as a warning to lawmakers opposing crypto, as Fairshake emphasized the electoral consequences of anti-crypto stances. Despite these wins, the future of the CLARITY Act remains uncertain. The bill, which aims to establish a clear regulatory framework for the crypto market, faces challenges, including conflict-of-interest provisions that could hinder its passage. With the political environment becoming more challenging, the odds of the CLARITY Act passing this year have dropped below 60%, according to TD Cowen's Jaret Seiberg.
