Stijn Vander Straeten, CEO of Crypto Finance under Deutsche Börse, highlighted that traditional banks are trailing crypto-native platforms by at least five years in DeFi innovation. He attributed this gap to large institutions' tendency to await regulatory clarity before engaging in DeFi markets. Vander Straeten suggested that full DeFi adoption by banks could take another 5 to 10 years. He emphasized that crypto platforms already provide advanced features such as weekend trading and instant settlement, contrasting with the traditional financial system's reliance on outdated infrastructure like T+2 settlement cycles.
