In the Illinois primary elections, cryptocurrency and AI industry groups faced significant setbacks despite substantial financial investments. The crypto industry, through the super PAC Fairshake, spent over $13 million, including nearly $10 million opposing Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton's Senate bid. Additionally, over $3 million was directed towards supporting candidates favoring cryptocurrency consumer protection regulations. The AI sector invested approximately $2.5 million in two House races. In District 7, State Representative La Shawn Ford, who supports consumer protection regulations, secured the nomination despite significant spending by AIPAC and Fairshake. In District 2, Donna Miller, backed by AIPAC, defeated Jesse Jackson Jr., who had AI industry support. In District 8, Melissa Bean, supported by AIPAC and crypto and AI PACs, won against progressive Junaid Ahmed. Overall, external groups spent over $500 million, with more than $350 million linked to AIPAC, crypto, and AI sectors.
