Cross-chain asset protocol Universal has announced a gradual shutdown due to insufficient user adoption over the past two years. The protocol will continue operating normally for 60 days until November 17, with existing infrastructure and underlying asset support for uAssets remaining unaffected during this transition period.
Users can redeem assets by selling uAssets through the Universal app or directly via the mint and redeem interface before the deadline. Large redemptions can be coordinated directly with the team. After November 17, remaining uAssets will be automatically redeemed through smart contracts, with uSOL, uXRP, uDOGE, uADA, uBTC, and uLTC on Base converting to bridged assets and all other uAssets converting to USDC. Final redemption details and smart contract information will be published prior to closure.
