Coinbase's x402, an AI-driven payment protocol, has joined the Linux Foundation to promote its adoption as an open, standardized infrastructure. The x402 Foundation, established as the protocol's governing body, includes founding members Cloudflare and Stripe. Other notable organizations showing interest include Amazon Web Services, Google, Mastercard, and Visa. Jim Zemlin, CEO of the Linux Foundation, emphasized that the x402 Foundation will foster development through a community-governed approach, focusing on transparency and interoperability. Google Cloud's James Tromans highlighted Google's commitment to supporting interoperable, AI-driven transaction standards by joining the initiative.
