The x402 Foundation, incubated by Coinbase, has launched Agent.market, a centralized platform for AI agents, functioning like an app store. Built on the x402 protocol, the platform offers access to hundreds of tools and services, facilitating instant micropayments via blockchain and traditional channels. Supported by over 20 institutions, including Cloudflare, Stripe, and Google, Agent.market spans seven categories, including reasoning, data, and trading, with providers like OpenAI and Bloomberg. Erik Reppel, creator of the x402 protocol, highlighted that around 69,000 active agents have completed over 165 million transactions worth $50 million on the protocol. The platform allows service providers to join without permission, aiming to reduce customer acquisition and activation costs for businesses by enabling agents to access services with minimal setup costs.
