Coinbase said x402 has processed more than 205 million transactions to date, with total volume reaching $53 million across 200,000 sellers. The company said it facilitated 67% of those transactions. x402 is an open machine-to-machine payment standard that was originally initiated by Coinbase and now operates independently. The system allows agents to discover paid resources, complete payments, and continue tasks without creating an account, entering card details, or subscribing.
