David Duong, Global Head of Institutional Research at Coinbase, has raised concerns about the long-term security of Bitcoin as advancements in quantum computing accelerate. Duong highlighted that approximately one-third of Bitcoin could be vulnerable to future quantum attacks due to the public exposure of related wallet public keys. He emphasized that the quantum threat has evolved from a theoretical issue to a real risk, with the primary concern being signature security rather than mining efficiency. In May, BlackRock also identified quantum computing as a risk factor in its iShares Bitcoin Trust prospectus.
