Court documents reveal that Ashita Mishra, a former TaskUs employee, is accused of storing sensitive data for over 10,000 Coinbase customers on her phone. Mishra allegedly stole confidential information, including social security and bank account numbers, starting in September 2024, and sold it to hacker groups for $200 per screenshot. The breach affected 69,000 users, leading to cryptocurrency losses of up to $400 million. Coinbase has terminated its partnership with TaskUs and compensated affected users. The company previously offered a $20 million bounty to track down the perpetrators. TaskUs claims to be enhancing its security measures but declined to comment on the indictment.
