Cognition AI has announced the acquisition of The Interaction Company, the California-based developer of the Poke AI agent. Poke, a personal agent operating within SMS, has facilitated over 100 million message exchanges in the past three months and is the only AI agent natively supported by Apple Messages. Cognition plans to enhance Poke's speed and reliability using its own models and infrastructure, while maintaining the current user experience. The acquisition aligns with Cognition's strategy to develop proactive, personalized AI agents, similar to its AI software engineering agent, Devin. Cognition's co-founder highlighted the shared vision of "always-on cloud agents" between the two companies. Post-acquisition, Poke users will continue to access the service without disruption.
