Cloudflare has made its “Block AI Training” setting available to all customers, enabling websites to prevent their content from being used for AI model training while still allowing search indexing. The company also introduced a “Responsible” crawler operator designation, requiring operators to offer opt-outs for training and AI summaries, disclose URL-level crawling status, and ensure training opt-outs do not affect search rankings. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Anthropic, Meta, and OpenAI have received the designation. Cloudflare said about 17% of websites have enabled some form of training block, while less than 1% block search crawlers.
