Citrea has acquired self-custodial privacy Bitcoin wallet Crest, designating it as the project's flagship privacy product. Crest founder Meliksah Gurtemel will join Citrea as Head of Product following the acquisition. The team plans to launch a Bitcoin mobile wallet in the coming weeks featuring automatic privacy protection, private BTC transfers, and cross-chain onboarding from Bitcoin and Ethereum. Future updates will introduce private cross-chain swaps and exit paths, enabling users to privately pay USDC or ETH to EVM addresses using privacy-enhanced BTC.
