Citi has updated its forecast for the stablecoin market, predicting issuance could reach $1.9 trillion in a base scenario and $4 trillion in a bullish scenario by 2030. The bank highlighted the rapid growth of stablecoin issuance, which increased from $200 billion at the start of 2025 to $280 billion currently. Citi also noted that if stablecoins circulate at a velocity similar to fiat currencies, they could facilitate up to $100 trillion in annual transactions by 2030 in the base case, potentially doubling in the bull case. The report underscores blockchain's potential to transform commerce, with stablecoins, bank tokens, and CBDCs expected to coexist in the future financial landscape.
