Circle has released the whitepaper for its Arc blockchain, detailing plans for the mainnet launch in summer 2026. The Arc testnet, which went live in October 2025, has already processed 244.1 million transactions as of May 5, 2026. Arc is designed as an institutional-grade public Layer 1 blockchain, compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), and features native USDC integration. It offers sub-second transaction finality, stablecoin-denominated gas fees, and configurable privacy options. Cross-chain transfers are enabled through Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP). The whitepaper also outlines the initial supply of Arc's native token, ARC, set at 10 billion tokens. Of this, 60% is allocated for ecosystem development, 25% is reserved for Circle, and 15% is set aside for long-term reserves. Arc aims to provide a robust infrastructure for institutional blockchain applications.
