China's AI large model usage has outpaced that of the U.S. for the fifth consecutive week, according to OpenRouter data. From March 30 to April 5, global AI model usage reached 27 trillion tokens, an 18.9% increase from the previous week. Chinese models accounted for 12.96 trillion tokens, marking a 31.48% rise, while U.S. models saw a modest 0.76% increase to 3.03 trillion tokens. Notably, the top six most-used AI models globally were Chinese, with Alibaba's Qwen3.6 series leading the pack. Qwen3.6 Plus (free) topped the list with 4.6 trillion tokens, and Qwen3.6 Plus Preview ranked third with 1.64 trillion tokens.
