In a landmark joint operation, law enforcement agencies from China, the United States, and the UAE have dismantled nine scam compounds in Dubai, arresting 276 suspects involved in crypto romance scams. The operation marks the first collaborative effort between these nations to combat telecom and online fraud syndicates. The suspects were part of groups that conducted "pig-butchering" scams, where they built romantic relationships with victims via social media, eventually persuading them to invest in fraudulent high-return cryptocurrency schemes. This crackdown highlights the growing international cooperation to tackle cross-border cybercrime.
