China’s Foreign Ministry rejected U.S. accusations that Chinese AI companies conducted unauthorized distillation of American AI models and extracted proprietary knowledge. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China’s AI development stems from high-level technological self-reliance and open cooperation. She urged the U.S. to stop making “unfounded accusations and smears” and said both countries should strengthen cooperation to promote open, inclusive and pro-social AI development.
