Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has highlighted concerns regarding the implementation of quantum-resistant encryption standards, which were standardized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2024. Hoskinson noted that without hardware acceleration support, the computational costs and data size associated with these encryption methods could significantly reduce blockchain throughput, potentially resulting in a performance loss of approximately one order of magnitude.
