Centralized crypto exchange trading volume doubled over five days to more than $37 billion, according to data from The Block. The figure recovered from a yearly low but remains well below the $105 billion peak seen after the large-scale liquidation event on October 10, 2025.
CEX trading volume in August has reached $490 billion so far, down from $670 billion in July. The report said spot ETFs and digital asset treasuries may be weighing on CEX volumes, while altcoin demand still tends to flow to centralized exchanges because of their faster listings, deeper trading pairs, and better tools for small- and mid-cap tokens. Rising use of DEXs such as Hyperliquid and Lighter is also pulling volume away from CEXs.
