The Central Bank of Russia is set to conduct a feasibility study in 2026 on the creation of a Russian stablecoin. Vladimir Chistyukhin, First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, announced the plan during the Alfa Talk conference. Despite the bank's traditional opposition to stablecoin operations, Chistyukhin noted that the study will reassess risks and prospects in light of international practices. The results will be submitted for public discussion, indicating a potential shift in the bank's approach to digital currencies.
