EMURGO has transferred the responsibility for delivering the Token2049 event to the Cardano Foundation due to its focus on managing the SecondFi security incident. The decision was made after consultations with Intersect, Cardano's governance company, and the Cardano Foundation. The transfer aims to ensure timely and effective event execution, with the Cardano Foundation recognized for its past event management capabilities. The Token2049 event remains scheduled for October. The security incident at SecondFi, disclosed in June, impacted approximately 16 million ADA, valued at $2.42 million at the time. However, SlowMist's Cosine suggested that user losses could exceed $20 million. EMURGO's reallocation of resources to address this incident prompted the transfer of event responsibilities.
