Capital A, led by AirAsia founder Tony Fernandes, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Standard Chartered Malaysia to explore the launch of a ringgit stablecoin. Standard Chartered will act as the issuer, while Capital A will pilot wholesale applications. The initiative will be conducted at the Digital Asset Innovation Centre under the supervision of Malaysia's central bank. This marks Capital A's first venture into the regulated digital asset sector. Fernandes highlighted this move as a significant step in transitioning the group from aviation to a tech ecosystem.
