Cape Town authorities have seized multiple luxury vehicles in a night-time operation targeting individuals posing as cryptocurrency and forex traders. The operation, conducted by the Mayor of Cape Town and the Metropolitan Police Department, uncovered cars with forged or unregistered license plates. Among the seized vehicles was a silver Mercedes-AMG GLE SUV, valued at over $153,000, which was fraudulently registered as a white BMW. Police also arrested the driver of an unregistered BMW 3 Series sedan. Officials noted that such luxury cars are often used by fraud rings to flaunt wealth on social media platforms like TikTok, enticing victims into investing in fraudulent crypto and forex schemes.
