The need for more effective decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) is growing, as current models often fall short in efficiency and resistance to manipulation. Originally inspired by Ethereum's vision, DAOs have become synonymous with token-holder voting systems, which are criticized for inefficiencies and vulnerability to capture. To address these issues, there is a call for DAOs to develop better oracles, facilitate on-chain dispute resolution, and maintain essential lists, among other functions. Improved DAOs are essential for creating robust oracles that prevent manipulation by large token holders and for enabling advanced smart contract use cases like insurance. Additionally, DAOs can expedite project launches and ensure long-term maintenance, even if original teams disband. The integration of zero-knowledge proofs (ZK) and AI is proposed to tackle privacy concerns and decision fatigue, enhancing the governance process without replacing human judgment. Emphasizing the importance of communication layers, new DAO designs should prioritize these elements to ensure the decentralization and robustness of the Ethereum ecosystem.
