ByteDance's Seed AI division has established a new "Seed Model-Alignment & Preparedness" department to strengthen safety research and model alignment capabilities. Led by Yan Lin and reporting to Seed head Wu Yonghui, the unit integrates members from the former Responsible AI team and select Chat team personnel to focus on aligning model behavior with human intent and safety constraints. The new department will prioritize enhancing safety for Agent Models and mitigating risks associated with frontier capabilities, including chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats.
