ByteDance has hired former Coatue Management executive Jiang Kai to head its corporate investment team, strengthening its focus on investments in emerging technology startups. Jiang has joined the TikTok parent company as head of its financial investment unit in Hong Kong and will report to Chief Financial Officer Gao Zhun. The appointment is expected to help ByteDance build a more systematic mechanism for startup investment, people familiar with the matter said.
