His wealth has surpassed that of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani. Zhang’s fortune has grown approximately sevenfold from the $13 billion recorded when Bloomberg first tracked him in March 2019. His wealth is tied to ByteDance’s globally popular TikTok and its AI initiatives, including the Doubao chatbot and Seedance video-generation model.
