Broadcom has introduced the Thor Ultra, a cutting-edge networking processor aimed at enhancing large-scale AI deployments. The chip is designed to connect vast numbers of compute elements, improving data throughput, power efficiency, and thermal performance. This innovation allows data centers to expand their AI infrastructures more effectively. Positioned as a reference design, Thor Ultra provides operators with both hardware and blueprints for creating custom AI networking stacks. Broadcom reported $12.2 billion in AI-related revenue for fiscal 2024 and has secured a 10-gigawatt custom chip production agreement with OpenAI, set to commence in the second half of 2026.
