BRICS nations, controlling 42% of global food production and 33% of arable land, are launching a food exchange to enhance global food security. This initiative aims to facilitate direct trade in local currencies, reducing dependence on Western commodity markets. Brazil, a major player, exports over $165 billion in agricultural products annually, while Russia leads as the world's largest wheat exporter. The 2025-2028 BRICS action plan focuses on strengthening family farming and regional food reserves. This strategy is designed to stabilize prices and ensure food security for 99.1 million people facing severe shortages, marking a significant shift in global food dynamics.
