Brazilian police have dismantled a $540 million cryptocurrency laundering network linked to drug trafficking, smuggling, and terrorism financing. The operation, known as Operation Lusocoin, was based in Dubai and involved 65 individuals and entities across Brazil. Authorities seized 30 cryptocurrency wallets, six luxury vehicles, and froze assets worth 3 billion reais. The takedown was supported by global partners and highlighted vulnerabilities in digital currency oversight, particularly the misuse of stablecoins. This marks the sixth major blockchain-related operation by Brazilian authorities as the country prepares for a 2025 regulatory framework for crypto assets.
