The Brazilian Securities Commission (CVM) has established the Security Tokenization Working Group (GTT) to explore regulatory frameworks for Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) in securities. Announced on July 17, 2026, the group will focus on the registration, custody, trading, and clearing of securities using DLT. The GTT's initial mandate is 120 days, with a possible 30-day extension, and includes representatives from 14 CVM departments, alongside government agencies and market experts. The working group's first objective is to propose an experimental regulatory framework for security tokenization within 60 days. CVM Chairman Otto Lobo emphasized the significance of tokenization as a transformative change in the capital market, necessitating innovative regulatory approaches.
