The Bolivian Supervisory Authority for the Financial System (ASFI) has extended the deadline for cryptocurrency exchange license applications to April 30, 2026. This extension, announced through Resolution No. 1203/2025, moves the previous deadline from December 31, 2025. As of November 2025, only 11 companies had submitted letters of intent, with none entering the Controlled Testing Environment (ECP).
Bolivia, which lifted its blanket ban on cryptocurrencies in June 2024, is in the process of establishing a regulatory framework for fintech companies. Firms that do not submit letters of intent by the new deadline will be barred from operating and advertising as authorized fintech entities.
