BNB Chain has announced its 2026 technology roadmap, aiming to significantly enhance its blockchain capabilities. By 2025, the network plans to achieve zero downtime, reduce block time to 0.45 seconds, and finalization time to 1.125 seconds. It also targets a daily gas consumption of up to 5 trillion and a reduction in gas costs from 1 gwei to 0.05 gwei, alongside a 95% decrease in malicious MEVs. Looking ahead to 2026, BNB Chain will focus on the parallel development of dual clients, Geth for stability and Reth for high performance, and introduce AOT/JIT and parallel execution technologies. The roadmap includes optimizing storage and TrieDB, with a goal of reaching approximately 20,000 transactions per second (TPS) and lowering transaction fees. In the longer term, from 2026 to 2028, BNB Chain aims to develop a "next-generation transaction chain" capable of handling around one million TPS with 150 millisecond confirmation times, while offering optional migration and compatibility layers.
