The Blockchain Association has called on the U.S. Senate to pass the Clarity Act, highlighting its importance for national security and law enforcement. In a letter sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Democratic Leader Charles Schumer, the association emphasized the act's role in enhancing law enforcement capabilities within the digital asset market. The letter, endorsed by 160 former national security and law enforcement officials, outlines the act's provisions, including expanding the Bank Secrecy Act and establishing a Treasury-led information-sharing mechanism. The Clarity Act, which has already passed the Senate Banking Committee, is designed to strengthen anti-illicit financial measures and enforcement within the digital asset ecosystem. The Blockchain Association clarified that these measures are not about deregulation but about providing law enforcement with necessary tools. A virtual town hall discussion on the bill is scheduled for Thursday.
