Bitlayer has launched its Bitcoin cross-chain bridge, BitVM, on the mainnet, enabling users to lock Bitcoin into smart contracts and convert it into Peg-BTC (YBTC) for cross-chain interactions. The bridge is integrated with networks including Sui, Base, and Arbitrum. Bitlayer's solution employs a single-signature verification mechanism to enhance security, facilitating native BTC liquidity in the smart contract ecosystem without altering the Bitcoin protocol.
