Bitcoin.com has announced it will delist its VERSE token from centralized exchanges (CEXs) starting September 19, 2025, as part of its strategy to emphasize decentralization and self-custody. The decision follows the platform's observation that CEXs have not significantly contributed to community growth, unlike the Bitcoin.com Wallet rewards program, which has onboarded over 300,000 VERSE users.
The move is also a response to the risks associated with centralized custody, underscored by the FTX collapse in 2022. VERSE will now focus on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) to foster community-driven activity. The transition includes a planned supply burn to enhance token scarcity and value. VERSE holders are advised to withdraw their tokens from CEXs and explore on-chain opportunities for yield and staking, aiming to create healthier markets and align incentives within the Bitcoin.com ecosystem.
