Bitcoin transactions using Taproot addresses have declined from 42% in 2024 to 20%, according to on-chain analyst Willy Woo. Citing Glassnode data, Woo noted this is the first instance of Taproot losing adoption, potentially due to concerns over quantum computing vulnerabilities. He suggested that older formats like SegWit and Legacy might offer better protection against such threats. Last month, Woo emphasized the need for Bitcoin to address quantum computing risks, recommending a shift to SegWit addresses for enhanced security.
