Bitcoin's share of bank crypto asset exposures in the Americas fell sharply to 44.2% in the second half of 2025, down from 75.8%, according to data released by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. Ethereum rose to 38.5% of regional bank crypto holdings, while Solana and XRP captured 7.8% and 5.6% respectively, signaling a significant diversification away from Bitcoin dominance. Client-related crypto activity in the Americas surged 93% to €6.4 billion during the period, contrasting with a 25% decline in Europe to €1.9 billion. While overall prudential exposures remained broadly flat globally, other regions shifted their composition more heavily toward stablecoins rather than volatile assets.
