Bitcoin has delivered an average median return of 63% in the 12-month periods following US midterm elections since 2010, according to CryptoQuant data. The cryptocurrency rose 36.8% after the 2014 midterms, 45.8% after the 2018 midterms, and 80.8% after the 2022 midterms.
CryptoQuant cautioned that this pattern may reflect Bitcoin's four-year halving cycle rather than election outcomes directly. The firm noted that 2026 is showing a different trend from previous post-midterm cycles.
