The Bitcoin ordinals browser Ord.io and its associated app Zap will shut down on June 1 due to a lack of funding, according to an announcement by founder Leonidas King. Ord.io, launched in 2023, served as a Bitcoin inscription browser with features like "Satributes" and "Block Vision." Despite reaching over one million users, the project could not sustain operations financially. The team plans to upload the platform's historical data to GitHub for future use by developers.
Zap, a self-custody app for trading Bitcoin memecoins, will also close. Users are advised to export their private keys to maintain asset access. The Ordinals NFT protocol, which allows data inscription on Bitcoin's blockchain, saw significant activity in 2023 but has since experienced a decline.
