Three new vulnerabilities have been discovered in Bitcoin Core, with one enabling attackers to remotely crash nodes. The first flaw allows a malicious peer to exhaust memory and crash Bitcoin nodes running on Windows, macOS, or BSD, while Linux nodes remain unaffected. A second vulnerability enables gradual memory exhaustion, and the third can corrupt blockchain undo data.
Two of the flaws were identified by the AI-driven Project Loupe at Spiral, while the remaining one was independently discovered by L0RINC. Patched versions are available in Bitcoin Core 29.5, 30.4, 31.2, and 32.1, though some configurations remain susceptible to the third issue.
